Beauty is a burden. Beauty is a pain that will not go away. Beauty is a terror, a longing, a nostalgia for somewhere we've never been, a shuddering awe as we brush against something that could destroy us if we could see it face to face.
Beauty hurts because we long for something out of reach -- to be a creature drawn into relationship with its Creator.
